How long should a new mattress remain comfortable?
Depending on the quality of the materials and construction, a new mattress that’s slept on nightly, and that’s supported by today’s solid foundations, should provide you with 5+ years of reasonable comfort life.
Don’t look to your mattress warranty to determine how long your mattress will be comfortable. The warranty period is merely a guarantee of how long the manufacturer is willing to look after defects. Mattress warranties cover defects in materials and workmanship, not comfort. The comfort life of your mattress is affected by a number of factors such as:
- The quality of the materials and construction.
- The foundation and the support material in the foundation.
- The weight and number of users.
- Activities it’s used for ... watching TV, reading, kid’s bouncing.
- Hours of use.
- How often it’s rotated.
Once it’s no longer reasonably comfortable, your mattress should be replaced.
