Why should everyone use a mattress pad?
There’s more than a few good reasons.
-
Mattresses are a prime habitat for dust mites. A typical mattress contains anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million dust mites. Dust mites feed on human skin, which we constantly shed, and throughout their lifetime (3 months) produce 2000 faecal pellets.
When breathed in by humans, these faecal pellets can become lodged in the bronchi, causing inflamation and wheezing. Unfortunately, these faecal pellets contain digestive enzymes to which some people are allergic. In short, a possible development of allergic asthma.
A good quality mattress pad that’s used and washed regularly in extremely hot water, can substantially reduce dust mites.
- Manufacturer’s reserve the right to void the warranty on stained or soiled mattresses. A good quality mattress pad can protect a new mattress from staining.
- You should be aware that chemicals used to protect mattresses from staining, can be toxic and dangerous to your health and the environment. A mattress pad eliminates the need for these chemical forms of mattress protection.
